RN Mobile Unit
Statement of Purpose:Provides and coordinates direct nursing services and procedures to patients on our Mobile Unit covering Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient quality of life through competent medical intervention. Ensures all documentation is compliant with professional and legal standards.
Primary Tasks: RN Mobile Unit
- Coordinates with staff on daily activities to ensure all tasks and roles are covered on a daily basis.
- Handles day to day operations and coordinates with the Director of Clinical Operations on any outstanding issues.
- Collaborates with Director of Clinical Operations and Chief of Clinical Services on employee evaluations, on-going supervision and training needs.
- Coaches and educates nursing staff on clinical procedures, EMR, and on governing and organizational policy/procedure.
- Performs quality assurance activities and compliance to operational, medical, and OSHA standards. Randomly audits charts and makes recommendations for continuous improvement. Documents all risk assessment activities.
- Performs medical intake procedures including labs, vital signs and history.
- Maintains and stocks inventory of clinical supplies
- Triages patient phone calls and walk-ins.
- Completes medication refills per the order of a physician.
- Reviews charts of patients on a daily basis to ensure all necessary documentation is present, current, and complete to facilitate physician visit.
- Prepares all diagnostic documentation as needed for patient care.
- Performs venipuncture and specimen processing.
- Practices safety, environmental and/or infection control methods.
- Promotes and practices CAN’s values and mission, and adheres to all policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and/or family in accordance with professional and departmental standards.
- Documents all patient care in an accurate and timely manner.
- Coordinates services with other departments, sister organizations, and community as needed.
- Requests diagnostic test results from other health care providers.
- Provides assistance with referrals and coordinates services with other organizations, federal and local programs.
- Collaborates with clinic team members and sister organizations to coordinate patient services.
Secondary Tasks: RN Mobile Unit
- Provides assistance in all clinical areas.
- Continues professional training and education to advance knowledge and skills of HIV/AIDS.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement of services rendered to CAN’s clients.
- Cross trains and acts as a backup to clinic team members.
- Develops and fosters networking relationships with community and support resources.
- Utilizes resources and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Demonstrates courtesy, compassion and respect in all interpersonal relationships with CAN’s clients, staff and visitors.
- Maintains professional manner in all aspects of job tasks.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required: RN Mobile Unit
- Demonstrates knowledge of HIV documentation protocols.
- Demonstrates experience with OSHA mandates, documentation, and compliance.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, medications, and accepted treatment practices.
- Ability and willingness to make independent nursing decisions based on nursing assessment.
- Demonstrates ability to self-motivate.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Demonstrates ability to coordinate a multitude of tasks as required.
- Maintains ongoing, appropriate documentation of all activities as needed.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
- Knowledge of community health services and agencies
- Ability to apply principals of health promotion and disease prevention.
- Able to work with health professional in a team environment.
- Ability to travel within a large area. Overnight travel is part of the role.
Required Training: RN Mobile Unit
In addition to the following, all new employees are required to attend New Employee Orientation:
- Bloodborne Pathogen Annual Training
- Hazardous Drug Disposal Training
- Stericycle DOT Training
- Biohazard Waste Training
- HIPAA
Physical Requirements: RN Mobile Unit
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients manual and finger dexterity and eye- hand coordination. Requires visual and auditory acuity, frequent standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds unassisted.
Education/Professional: RN Mobile Unit
- RN graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently licensed to practice in the State of Florida.
- Baccalaureate in Nursing and two (2) years of relevant work experience – OR –
- Associate of Arts in Nursing and three (3) years of relevant work experience
- CPR Certified
Experience: RN Mobile Unit
Minimum five years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Machines/Equipment and Tools Used: RN Mobile Unit
- Computer
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
- Must be able to assist in set up of mobile unit
