At CAN Community Health, we’ve seen the effects of HIV/AIDS, and we know the damage that sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can cause. That’s why we are committed to finding a better solution for everyone. Some communities are disproportionately affected by HIV, but we want to ensure that the world is a safe place for everyone in it. Learn more about the HIV prevention options we offer below.
PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a kind of treatment where at-risk individuals take a daily pill to prevent HIV infection. The HIV prevention pill actually contains medicines that are used to treat HIV after a person contracts the virus, but it can also reduce your risk of infection by 99%.
Although it can reduce the risk of infection drastically, this is only proven with consistent use. And we understand that some of the communities HIV affects the most may contain individuals who can’t afford to buy pills as often as required.
At CAN Community Health, you can learn about the different programs in place to help you receive this important medicine for free. To learn more about these programs or to meet with our helpful staff, contact our team. We’re excited to help you live your life freely.
